We first discovered “pop mart” figurines in August with the Coca-Cola classic popcar series. Here they are again in the form of cute little monsters. Following the pop mart concept, this is a set of 10 “mystery” boxes, with a (very) rare eleventh.
But who are these monsters? They are Labubu and “the monsters”. Labubu is a monster (an elf with nine sharp teeth, to be precise) created by artist Kasing Lung. Born in Hong Kong in 1972, he soon moved to the Netherlands with his family. He absorbed the local culture (folklore, mythology) to create, in 2015, the Monsters. Labubu and his friends, Zimomo, Spooky, Tycoco and Pato. These little monsters are becoming more and more famous, with derivative products including this brand-new series of Coca-Cola pop mart. In parallel, Kasing Lung has published children’s story books and participated as an artist in several exhibitions.
